An Issue of the Palestine Newspaper, 29 April 1949
Found in 1911 by Issa Dawood al-Issa, this issue of the Palestine Newspaper is dated 29 April 1949, which is a political, news and illustrated newspaper, the issue includes several subjects and headlines such as the Tripartite Conciliation Committee meeting with the Syrian delegation, asking the Jews in Lausanne to change their position on the refugee problem and submitting 3 reports to the General Assembly on the refugees, the internationalization of Jerusalem and the future of Haifa and Lod. Inviting Riley to address the division of Jabal al-Mukabber and the lack of approval by the Jordanian government, and that a large number of Jordanian Arab army soldiers are participating in the celebration of Army Day in Ramallah, the resumption of the permanent armistice negotiations between Syria and the Jews under the supervision of the International Monitoring Committee, that the negotiations in it are a convergence of views between the two sides. A meeting was held at the end of January, after the Palestinian Nakba, attended by representatives of chambers of commerce and a group of Palestinian merchants residing in Amman, as the gathering took several decisions, the most important of which were the freedom of trade and import, the Ramallah municipality’s announcement of a license to sell alcohol for the year 1949, and a celebration on the occasion of the unveiling of the memorial to the shuhada of the Iraqi army and the Palestinian fighters who were murdered in the various battles of Palestine.
