First Year Issues of Suriyya al-Janubiyya Newspaper, 1919-20
This document shows issues one to sixty-three published between 8 September 1919 and 11 June 1920 of the Suriyya al-Janubiyya Newspaper; an Arab political newspaper that was issued twice a week for a while. Founded in Jerusalem by its owner and manager lawyer Muhammad Hassan al-Mudairy, with Aref al-Aref as its editor-in-chief and head of administration, its annual subscription fee amounted to 100 piasters in Jerusalem and 125 abroad. The Newspaper focused in general on issues related to Palestinian political, national, and nationalist issues. It also adopted the idea of "all of Syria" and opposed British rule and Zionist immigration and its issues included world and Arab news, as well as a set of political, economic and social articles and pieces, in addition to official and commercial advertisements.
