Taken by Sam'an Sahhar, this photograph documents the visit of King Abdullah I bin al-Hussein to the city of Bethlehem on 9 December 1948, in which the King is sitting next to the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fawzi Mulki, in the hall of the guest house known as Casanova, near the Church of the Nativity in the city of Bethlehem.
