The 41st Issue of ash-Sheraa Magazine, July 1982

The forty-first issue of the fourth year of ash-Sheraa Magazine, a bi-monthly political, cultural, social magazine that was issued by Dar ash-Sheraa Press and Publishing in Jerusalem, founded by Marwan al-Asali, and edited by Siham al-Asali. This special issue was printed at the Arab East Press in Jerusalem, its price was 18 shekels and its cover had the words “The Israeli attack on Lebanon” with a picture that took the form of a map of Lebanon and showed a side of the destruction. As for the inner pages, they included several contributions by different writers, in addition to some commercials and advertisements. The titles were arranged as follows -according to technical necessities, as stated at the bottom of the contents list: 1) Palestinian affairs: - The war of the south revealed the depth of the conspiracy. - Destructive weapons do not destroy the people. - What did the steadfastness forces do? - Part of the course of the battles. - We had to know enemy from friend. - What if we suffer a setback. - Our losses in the war are the result of betting. - Small and significant issues. - Blurry reactions. - Sayings and statements. - Sharon document. 2) Israeli affairs: - Blood and fire. - Is the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) rising again? - Not in your information, Begin. - Resuming the war. 3) Arab affairs: - The recent Moroccan-American agreement. - Negotiating the concept of autonomy. 4) International affairs: - Socialism in France a year later. - A secret war against Nicaragua. 5) Local affairs: - Where is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) going? - Logbook of the local theatre. 6) Literature: - Ghassan Kanafani/The Tenth Anniversary. - Beirut is the only hope. - Earth and lovers. 7) miscellaneous: - The whispers of the country. - I learned from the people. - At the docks. - The issue's caricature.
