A Special Edition of "The Jerusalem Times" on Christmas, Jerusalem-Jordan, 1965

Printed in English, this document includes a special edition of “The Jerusalem Post” on the occasion of Christmas in 1965, which sold for 100 fils. The Post is a daily political newspaper issued by the al-Jihad House of Press in Jerusalem. In this issue, the Post thanks all those who contributed its issuance and send Christmas greetings to all readers, confirming its return to normal on Tuesday, 12 December 1965, after the holidays. This issue stands out for taking on the concept of a political, religious and social Christmas within a press frame that is fit for all age groups, as its first page was specific to recording opening speeches of Christian clerics from Jerusalem, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, where they confirm that this Christmas came bringing love, peace and high spirits. Then, it follows the activity of the religious Christian movement in this season and mentions that the Cairo Amman Bank must have financial facilities for this time of year, which in turn has taken an advertising space in the pages of “The Jerusalem Post”. Hotels and hostels in Jordan and Jerusalem have also taken a share of this space, where they attached a small introduction brief, in addition to the offers available and the facilities it provides, not to mention the churches that through the Post opened their doors to visitors to perform their religious rites so that the travel and tourism agencies came as a whole in their advertisements within the Post. For a younger audience, “The Jerusalem Post” attempted to include some of the material about the reality of Santa Claus and the story behind the decorated Christmas tree in a funny, educational format, and for the other half of it, it included political reports and articles, one of which was by Lawrence Michael More, an envoy at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees "UNRWA", who spoke about the refugees and their dream of returning to their Palestinian homes, with a focus on their political, social and economic conditions in the refugee camps in Jordan, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
