Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1926

Handwritten between 1 January and 31 December 1926, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1926, where he detailed his family and social life as the mayor of Tulkarm. According to their subject, the diaries were divided into three sections, where al-Haj Ibrahim recorded the most important activities. For one, he wrote about his ownership of the Faza orchard on the seashore near the city of Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khaled, where he also recorded accounts and expenses related to the work of digging a well and building a house in the orchard, and others related to the wages of workers and artisans who worked in planting trees. He also wrote about the most important activities during the wedding of his son Salim, and notes on his trips to the al-Himmah area for treatment, Bisan city, the Hill of al-Husun and Yafa city. Ibrahim also made sure to describe his health and write down the days he went to work in Tulkarm municipality and attended meetings of road committees. In addition, he discussed subjects related to education in the city including the issue of establishing a school for girls in the city and following up with the issues of the agricultural school.
