Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1941

Handwritten between 1 January and 31 December 1941, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1941, where he left some empty, and in others detailed his family, social life and the work he did to manage his orchard. His observations focused on his perseverance in performing prayers at the mosque, writing details about his health, notes about the visits he made to family and relatives, and his response to the invitations of his acquaintances to attend various social events. He recorded that he paid the subscription fees for the water and electricity services, as well as the taxes incurred by him to the municipality and the Governmental Finance Department in Tulkarem for properties in Tulkarem, Taybe, and Jerusalem. He also mentioned his visits to some Palestinian cities, including Lod, Ramleh, Nablus, Gaza, and Yafa. Al-Hajj Ibrahim was keen to write down the most important work that he did, related to his possession of the Faza orchard on the seashore near Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khaled, in which he wrote the accounts and expenses related to the wages of workers and artisans who work in planting, caring for and installing trees, and a record of the types of trees and crops grown in the orchard. In these diaries, al-Hajj Ibrahim became the direct person in charge of the orchard, while his son, Samir, moved to work in a store he owned in the city of Tulkarem.
