Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim Diaries, Tulkarm, 1942

Handwritten between 10 April and 31 December 1942, this document shows the diaries of Abdel-Rahman al-Haj Ibrahim for the year 1942, where he left some empty, and in others detailed his family and social life and the work he did to manage his orchard. His observations focused on his perseverance in performing prayers at the mosque, especially the Jum'a prayer, writing details about his health, notes about the visits he made to family and relatives, He paid the subscription fees for the water and electricity services, and paying the taxes incurred by him to the municipality and the Government Finance Department in Tulkarem for his properties in Tulkarem and Taybe. He also mentioned his visit to Nablus and Yafa, information about his son Samih’s enrollment in Birzeit School, and the meeting that was held for the Women’s Association in Tulkarem at his house, where the work of the kindergarten was launched. Al-Hajj Ibrahim wrote about leasing several plots of land to farmers from Tulkarm and the Bani Saab district for cultivation and reconstruction. He also talked about the most important works that he did regarding his possession of the Faza orchard on the seashore near Tulkarm and the village of Umm Khalid, in which he wrote the accounts and expenses of the orchard, including accounts related to the wages of workers and artisans who work in planting and installing trees and working in the orchard, and a record of the trees and crops planted, which he planted or produced crops from.
