Taken in 1980, this photograph shows a part of the tour of Bassam Shakaa, mayor of Nablus, of Britain on the sidelines of his trip to the country for treatment, in the wake of the Israeli Occupation Authorities' attempt to assassinate him, leading to the amputation of his legs on 2 June of the same year. Shakaa appears in the photograph along with his wife, Enaya al-Fassed, British members of the Parliament and journalists, in addition to Arab diplomats, including Omar al-Hasan, delegate of the League of Arab States to London.
