Marj al-Zohour Deportees, December 1992
Taken by Joss Dray in December 1992, this photograph shows Abdel Aziz al-Rantissi, the former leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" who was one of the 415 Islamic activists from Hamas and Islamic Jihad deported by Israeli Occupation Forces to the Marj al-Zohour area on the Lebanese-Palestinian border in December 1992. This was in response to Hamas's abduction of an Israeli soldier. The deportees lived in tents in the area for a year before the issuance of the international resolution 977, which stipulated their return to Palestine.
