Issued on 28 March 1982, this clipping from al-Fajr Newspaper entitled "The Strike is Extended until the Land Day" reports on a strike and the eruption of demonstrations and confrontations in a number of West Bank Palestinian cities and villages following the dismissal by the Israeli Occupation Authorities of a number of elected mayors, as well as on the extension of the strike until the anniversary of the Land Day, observed on 30 March. The news contained in the clipping mentions that the Occupation Authorities summoned a number of mayors along with their deputies, including Karim Khalaf, mayor of Ramallah; his deputy the Pastor Odeh Rantisi; Ibrahim at-Tawil, mayor of al-Bireh, and his deputy Jamil at-Tarifi.
