Asaad al-Ka'bi, Asem’s grandfather, is a Palestinian refugee from the Balata Palestinian Refugee Camp, who was forcibly displaced from his village, Arab al-Sawalim, located in the Yafa district, in 1948, where he was a farmer and a member of the Agricultural Association of Arab Villages. He owned a grove and several agricultural plots of land in the villages of Arab abu Kishk and Arab al-Sawalima before the Nakba.

DESCRIPTION

This is a collection of papers consisting of 11 documents compiled by Asem al-Ka'bi, related to his grandfather, Asaad, that discuss short stations in the family’s life in the village of Arab al-Sawalima during the British Mandate period. It includes papers related to the family’s property in the village of Arab abu Kishk, a marriage contract, receipts, documents showing the ownership and lease of agricultural lands, sale and purchase agreements, as well as a clipping from al-Fajr Newspaper reporting on the displacement of the al-Ka'bi family to Ein el-Sultan Palestinian Refugee Camp in Jericho.
