"Exchange of Population", a Newspaper Clipping form the Jerusalem Post, July 1949
Published in 1949, these two newspaper clippings from the Jerusalem Post contain two articles, which discuss the exchange of population action adopted in the recommendations of the Peel Commission. The partition plan for Palestine stated that the land be divided into a Jewish state and an Arab state, with the exchange of Arabs from the Jewish state over to the Arab state and the Jews from the Arab state over to the Jewish. The idea behind this decision came in order to create a Jewish and Arabian homogeneity within the Jewish and Arab state respectively and was influenced by the exchange of population the took place between Turkey and Greece in 1923, as mentioned in Ilyas Kusa's article.
