A Photograph of Ashtar Theatre's "Women of Sand and Myrrh", 1999

A colour photograph of Ashtar for Theatre Productions and Training's play, "Women of Sand and Myrrh" in 1999. Adapted by Iman Aoun from Hanan ash-Shaikh's novel of the same name, the play was produced by Ashtar in cooperation with the Swiss Maralam Theatre. Under Peter Braschler's direction assisted by Samy Mitwasy, backgrounded by Aude Turjman's music and Philip Andrew's stage lighting, the show premiered at Jerusalem International Young Men Christian Association, featuring a cast of Palestinian actors, including Aude, Fatin Khury, Munira Zurayqy, and Tahany Salim. It also ran across Israeli-occupied Palestine, in Norway, and at the Egyptian National Theatre. The show also marked the last cooperation between Ashtar and Braschler.
