The Diary of Khalil Sakakini, 1 April 1942

Handwritten, this archival item documents the diary of Khalil Sakakini on Wednesday 1 April 1942 which he wrote before the arrival of Domia from Beirut on four o'clock, in which he said that she didn't arrive, so he spoke with the office of Faraj Allah in Haifa who told him that tomorrow is the date of her arrival, and told him that if there are no passengers with her, he has to order a taxi for her alone from Haifa to Jerusalem, and while they were about to go to bed at ten o'clock, the phone rang and it was Domia talking from the house of "Hassan Effendi al-Budairi" in Jerusalem, saying that she left Beirut at noon and arrived in Haifa at five, then continued on her way to arrived at ten. On the same page, he started his diary for Thursday 2 April 1942 in which he said that he and his family went to visit the cemetery where others joined them including his cousin Yaqoub, Mitri with his wife and children, Ahmad Khalifa and Nabih Nasser, and at night, he talked about the visit Issa al-Issa paid him stayed the night. The diary is continued on the next page.
