The Continuation of the Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 15 October 1947

Handwritten, this archival item documents the continuation of the diaries of Khalil Sakakini on Saturday 15 October 1947, where he continued writing about his visit to Damascus and asking to see Haj Amin al-Husseini during his visit to the presidential palace. After the guards refused to allow him to do so, Sakakini asked one of the guards to hand over his personal card to Haj Amin al-Husseini or Shukri al-Quwatli, then they continued their journey to Damascus. On Sunday, 16 October, Sakakini stayed at the hotel while his sister Melia travelled with Ahmed Effendi and his wife to Homs. The next day, Sakakini visited Nabih Bey al-Athma with Elias al-Issa. He spent Monday, 17 October, in Damascus, and the next day they returned to Jerusalem, and he wrote about his happiness to meet al-Qawuqji on this trip.
