Diaries of Khalil Sakakini, 1 June 1940
Handwritten, this archival item documents the diaries of Khalil Sakakini on Saturday 1 June 1940, where he mentioned going with his sister Milia to the cemetery and spreading flowers, that today is the start of daylight saving time, then he mentioned that Habib al-Khoury, George Saliba and Fakhri Jawhareyyeh visited him on that day, then he went over the issue of war and the woes and destruction it brings, after that he recorded criticism of Youssef Abdo by his behaviour in the book "al-Jadeed (The New)" as if it was his property, and that he was taking a commission from the Department of Education in Palestine of 7.5%, although the agreement was to exclude these books from this commission.
