Nayef Salim's Poetry Notebook, 1947
Handwritten in Arabic by Nayef Salim in 1947, this 58-page document shows a poetry notebook, the cover of which bears the stamp of the Ministry of Education of the Government of Palestine, his name (Nayef Saleh Salim), name of school (al-Buqe'a), his grade (fifth grade), and the subject (Poetry). The notebook features poems by Salim and other poets including "al-Fallah (The Farmer)", "Nasihat lil Hasoud (Advice for the Envious)", "Muhammad al-Milhem", " al-Ikhwan (The Brothers)", "al-Ghurab wal Jibna (The Crow and the Cheese)", "Dawood al-Malek (Dawood the King)", "Ala al-Yarmouk (Off to Yarmuk)", "Hakmiyeh", "Fo'ad Alameh", "al-Ali", " Nukhba min Lamiyyat Ibn al-Wardi (Verses from the Arabian Ode Rhyming in L by Ibn al-Wardi)", "asl-Shibel wal Fares (The Lion Cub and the Knight)", "Alia wa Issam (Alia and Issam)", "Min Jabal al-Druze (From the Druze Mountain)", "Hikam (Wisdoms)", "Soliman wal Hudhud (Soliman and the Hoopoe)", "Ya Latif (Oh Sweet Lord)", "Ya Salam (Oh Gracious Lord)", "Ya Sater (Oh Wise Lord)", and "AA (A poem every verse of which starts with Aleph [first letter of the Arabic alphabet])".
