The Diaries of Fandi Mhanna, Buqei'a- Upper Galilee, 1958
This 59-page document shows the diaries of Fandi Mhanna from Buqei'a- Upper Galilee inside an agenda for the year 1958, where he wrote about social life, in addition to describing the weather and the Hijri calendar. In his diaries, Mhanna spoke about the local council elections which resulted in the election of Yousef Baek, from the western neighbourhood of the village, as the President of the council. Mhanna also mentioned that an employee from the Ministry of Interior came to Buqei'a in order to set a budget for the council. Additionally, Mhanna pointed out his relationship with his family and the time he spent in Buqei'a by contributing to resolving tribal disputes with the dignitaries of Buqei'a inside and outside of the village. They also conduct regular meetings to discuss some of the social issues. Mhanna also mentioned participating in many social events and visiting the Tomb of Prophet Sablan where people gather to establish the prayers with the Sheikhs from neighbouring villages. He also recorded financial accounts in his diaries, like his debts, grocery store accounts and olive harvest product. Additionally, he kept a record of the accounts between him and his partners in the oil presser "oil mill". He also pointed out his role in the department of supplies, where he was responsible for receiving aid and distributing it to the beneficiaries.
