The Diaries of Fandi Mhanna, Buqei'a- Upper Galilee, 1962-1963

This 195-page document shows the diaries of Fandi Mhanna from Buqei'a- Upper Galilee inside an agenda which he started writing at the start of 1962 until the end of 1963, where he wrote about social life, in addition to describing the weather and the Hijri calendar.  In this diary, Mhanna wrote about his relationship with his family discussing their situation in school and his son's compulsory military service in the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). He also spoke about how he participated in solving tribal disputes inside and outside the village with the dignitaries of Buqei'a and holding regular meetings to discuss some social issues.  Additionally, Mhanna mentioned engaging in social celebrations and exchanging visits with numerous sects during the holidays. In addition to his visit to the Tomb of Prophet Sabalan, where people gather to pray with Sheikhs from neighbouring villages.  Moreover, Mhanna also wrote about his involvement to the land, as he always weeded the land, pruned trees and planted many vegetables. Additionally, he kept a record of some financial accounts including his debts, olive crop production, some miscellaneous purchases for his grocery store, and accounts between him and his partners at the olive oil press.
