The Diaries of Fandi Mhanna, Buqei'a- Upper Galilee, 1964-1965
This 212-page document shows the diaries of Fandi Mhanna from Buqei'a- Upper Galilee for 1964-1965 inside an agenda, where he focused on social aspects of life during that time, described the weather and wrote a Hijri calendar. Mhanna talked about his relationship with his family, as he talked about requesting hiring his son Hussein as a teacher. He sent a letter to Sheikh Amin Tarif, asking him to speak with the minority leader of the Druze army. He also sent a letter to the Head of Education Directorate in Jerusalem, asking him to appoint Hussein as a teacher, and sent another letter to the Ministry Advisor for Minorities, where Mhanna indicated in these letters that his son had completed the conscription of the Druze minorities, then he was appointed as a teacher in the Buqei'a School temporarily, then a teacher at the Yanouh School. Furthermore, Mhanna mentioned the time he spent in Buqei'a, contributing to resolving tribal disputes with the dignitaries of Buqei'a inside and outside of the village and conducting regular meetings to discuss some social issues. He mentioned engaging in many social events and mutual visits with numerous sects, in addition to his visits to the tomb of Prophet Sablan, where people flock to perform prayers with Sheikhs from neighbouring villages. In addition to previously mentioned, Mhanna spoke about his connection to the land, as he constantly weeded it out, planted it and took care of it. He also recorded in his diaries some financial accounts, including debts and taxes that he owed, the product of the olive crop, and some miscellaneous purchases for his grocery store.
