The Sling of Shaheed Bashir Shilweet Displayed at the '100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives' Exhibition, Feb 2001
This photograph shows the sling that belonging to Shaheed Bashir Shilweet from Qalqilia. Shilweet continuously participated in the confrontations against the Occupation Army Forces. He was shot twice with rubber bullets before he was murdered. On October 27, 2000, ten days after his second injury, he was shot murdered. This item was displayed at the "100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives" exhibition held at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah On February 20, 2001. which is taken by Isabel de la Cruz. the idea of the exhibition emerged weeks after the outbreak of the Second Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada) as a tribute to all those murdered in the struggle. However, as the number of shaheeds was exponentially increasing, the exhibition was limited to honoring the first 100 shaheeds representing all areas of Historic Palestine.
