A Qoran of Shaheed Issam Judeh Displayed at the '100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives' Exhibition, Feb 2001

This photograph shows a Qoran that belonging to Shaheed Issam Judeh from the village of Um Safa near Ramallah. On October 10, 2000, Issam volunteered to paint the cemetery gate in the village, and in the way, he was chased by the Occupation Army Forces . According to eyewitnesses, he was arrested and handed him over to the settlers. The following morning, his dead body was found next to the house, and his body showed signs of burns, mutilation, and torture. This item was displayed at the "100 Shaheeds - 100 Lives" exhibition held at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah On February 20, 2001. which is taken by Isabel de la Cruz. the idea of the exhibition emerged weeks after the outbreak of the Second Intifada (Al-Aqsa Intifada) as a tribute to all those murdered in the struggle. However, as the number of shaheeds was exponentially increasing, the exhibition was limited to honoring the first 100 shaheeds representing all areas of Historic Palestine.
