Series Finale ,"Stories From the Sea to the River" Project, 2022
This is the final video of the nine interviews within the "Stories from the Sea to the River" project, conducted by Tarek Al-Bakri and Bayan Sukkar with nine displaced Palestinians living in the camps of Nahr al-Bared, Dbayeh, Bourj al-Barajneh, and Ain al-Hilweh in Lebanon. Al-Bakri connected with Sukkar and the nine elderly individuals through a video call, taking them to their villages (Amka, al-Ghabisiyya, Saffuriya, Dayr al-Qasi, al-Damun, Loubieh, Hittin, al-Bassa) from which they were forcibly displaced in 1948. During the call, they reminisced about their memories, recognized some places, and shared stories about their lives there. The video also documents the sending of handfuls of soil and olive branches from the eight displaced villages to the elderly, along with their reactions upon receiving them. The video was produced by Shagaf for Digital Expression, in collaboration with the "We Were and Still Are... Here" initiative and the Campji platform in 2022, as part of the "Stories from the Sea to the River" project, funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and supervised by Taawon (Welfare Association).
